More about the Durham Civil Rights History Mural Project:
Under the leadership of Dr. Benjamin Speller and an esteemed teaching team, a diverse group of 30 community members, ages 15-65, are coming together to learn about Durham’s profound Civil Rights History through a series of educational workshops and following the workshops the participants will collaborate, under the direction of muralist Brenda Miller Holmes, to transform this knowledge into a cohesive design. We will then work together to paint an 800 square foot mural in downtown Durham. The lectures are free and open to the public and we would love for you to join us. While the application process to be included on the design team is now closed, we encourage community members that would like to be involved in the painting process to reach out and let us know at [email protected].
